Highbridge Water Tower

Description

Standing nearly 200 feet tall, this striking octagonal tower looms over Highbridge Park, a reminder of the 19th century feats of engineering required to supply running water to a growing New York City population. Though no longer in service as part of the City’s aqueduct system, the water tower provides a stunning backdrop for High Bridge strolls and photo ops. Note: this landmarked NYC building is currently undergoing a renovation to restore both its interior and the Romanesque Revival and neo-Grec facade, with an expected completion date of  summer 2021.
