Jeffrey's Hook Lighthouse

Description

One of the few surviving lighthouses in New York City, this 40-foot-high structure was erected in 1921 but decommissioned by the Coast Guard just 27 years later. Thanks to an outpouring of love inspired by the 1942 children's book The Little Red Lighthouse and the Great Gray Bridge, the lighthouse still stands today next to the George Washington Bridge, delighting visitors to Fort Washington Park with its vibrant red pop of color and striking Hudson River views.
