Jumel Terrace
Description
Hidden in plain sight amidst the hustle and bustle of Washington Heights lies the tiny landmarked Jumel Terrace Historic District. The cobblestone streets are lined with dozens of picturesque 1890s rowhouses, including the oldest remaining wood-frame buildings in NYC. The history lesson continues in verdant Roger Morris Park, where you’ll find the Morris-Jumel Mansion, once home to Aaron Burr and now the oldest standing house in Manhattan. The 1765 mansion is now a museum and a must-visit for Hamilton fans: Lin-Manuel Miranda wrote two songs for the musical in Burr’s former bedroom.
