Description

The Brooklyn Museum, which grew out of a small lending institution founded 200 years ago, is running a year of programming and exhibitions to celebrate its evolution and history. As a lead up, Elizabeth Catlett: A Black Revolutionary Artist and All That It Implies opened in the Sackler Center (Sep 13, 2024–Jan 19, 2025). That was followed by The Brooklyn Artists Exhibition, highlighting borough artists (Oct 4, 2024–Jan 26, 2025) and an October reinstallation of the museum’s American Art galleries that centers Black feminist and BIPOC perspectives. Other exhibits include Solid Gold (Nov 16, 2024–July 6, 2025), Brooklyn Made (opening Feb 28, 2025); Breaking the Mold: Building the Brooklyn Museum and Its Collection (also Feb 28, 2025); and Nancy Elizabeth Prophet: I Will Not Bend an Inch (Mar 14–Jul 13, 2025).
