Summer in New York means that the City is filled with music. Each year, dozens of free and ticketed live music performances take place in parks across the boroughs—though SummerStage’s home base is Rumsey Playfield in Central Park. Music spans all genres, from classical to indie to hip-hop. Join world-renowned artists and up-and-coming musicians from around the globe for picturesque alfresco performances. Free shows include Mavis Staples (July 16; Central Park), De La Soul (July 17; Flushing Meadows Corona Park) and the music of Stan Getz and João Gilberto (September 2; Central Park). A 1990s-fueled bill of Blues Traveler, Spin Doctors and Gin Blossoms (August 15; Central Park) is among the ticketed performances. Check the site for the entire lineup.
