Pirates! The Penzance Musical

This event has already occurred

Description

The Roundabout Theatre Company presents a reimagining of the opera-musical Pirates of Penzance, originated by Arthur Sullivan and W.S. Gilbert. Young Frederic has just turned 21, been released from his apprenticeship and taken on by a band of pirates. He meets and falls in love with Mabel, the daughter of Major-General Stanley, but Frederic soon learns that because his birthday is on February 29, he is technically not 21 and thus still a pirate. Audiences are treated to jazz and blues-inspired music in this outrageous New Orleans– and Caribbean-themed romp. Ramin Karimloo, David Hyde Pierce and Jinkx Monsoon lead the crew; Scott Ellis (Doubt; Kiss Me, Kate) directs.
