Bayou

Description

Bayou caters to local Staten Islanders, but it's also fun for non-natives since the opulently appointed dining room, food and drink replicate the New Orleans experience right down to the boozy Hurricanes. There's often entertainment, from live jazz to blues to tarot card readers (check the calendar). On the menu are Bourbon Street specialties like gumbo, red beans and rice and jambalaya. Sunday brunch is prix fixe, featuring all manner of egg dishes, French toast and banana chocolate bread pudding with bourbon cream sauce. The owners are also behind the restaurants Beso and Blue, both on Staten Island as well.
