886

Description

The East Village spot 886 is a standout among the cavalcade of eateries lining St. Mark’s Place for its Taiwanese cooking. The narrow clubby space (named for Taiwan’s country code) has neon light fixtures that look like they reach into infinity. If you’re ravenous, try the towering and spicy fried chicken sandwich and a heap of shaky fries with seaweed seasoning and kewpie mayonnaise. There are also lighter stir-fries, such as blackened onions and beef in savory broth. Wash it all down with a Taiwanese beer, or choose sake on draft.
