El Quinto Pino

Out of Business

Description

El Quinto Pino, a beguiling and beloved refuge near Chelsea’s art galleries, celebrates the Spanish tapas bar tradition. The kitchen does take liberties, as with a slim, buttery sea urchin sandwich that strays from the country’s more familiar snacks, but the classics are well covered: Serrano ham croquetas, blistered peppers with sea salt and crispy potatoes with spicy aioli. The bar area is tiny, and a dining room annex is good for romantic tête-à-têtes. Wife-and-husband team Alex Raij and Eder Montero are also behind the Basque-style Txikito and Brooklyn’s La Vara and Tekoá.
