Pastrami Queen
Description
Pastrami Queen is a modest, undersize kosher deli, but its sandwiches and golden knishes are extra-large. The moist, tender pastrami has the right amount of fat, sliced thin and stacked at least two inches high on rye bread. The business dates back to mid-20th century (born as Pastrami King in Queens) and has been at this Upper East Side location since 2006. The recipes go back much further, 150 years or so, to Eastern Europe. Matzo ball, mushroom barley and pea soups are also grandmother-worthy.
