Futura 2000: Breaking Out
This event has already occurred
Description
Futura’s career grew in tandem with the Bronx Museum, both beginning in the early 1970s. The exhibit draws its name from the street artist’s practice as a whole, as well as his iconic 1980 piece, Break, in which he painted the exterior of a subway car in vibrant colors but without letters—considered a first in the field of graffiti art. In addition to showing sculptures, drawings, prints and studies from his five-decade career, the exhibition features new site-specific temporary installations.
